The Ministries Of Our Parish


Here you will find a list of our current ministries.. We welcome anyone interested to find out more about volunteering their time, talent or treasure  to serve in any of these ministries. Please contact the parish or the person listed for more information.

The Family Ministry

The Family Ministry at Sacred Heart Parish handles the Religious Education, and other family programs.

The Shawl Ministry

Church Ministries

Sr. Joanne Picciurro, pastoral associate for parish ministry, is a Franciscan Sister of Peace. She is involved with the following: baptism preparation, RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults), initial and ongoing formation of lectors, Eucharistic ministers and visitors to those sick and homebound.

She coordinates a mother’s support group, prayer relay, women’s retreat planning committee, as well as a weekly women’s spirituality group. Her phone number is 201-387-0080. Her e-mail address is shpahaw@aol.com.

Ministry of the Word

Baptism

Formation of parents who wish to have their children baptized is provided. The baptism team offers two meetings on the sacrament of baptism and Christian parenting, respectively. Call Sr. Joanne at 201-387-0080 or e-mail at shpahaw@aol.com for more details.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

This is a process for non-Catholics who wish to become Catholic. It is also for Catholic adults who have not received confirmation or Eucharist. Christians and non-Christians are welcome. Call Sr. Joanne at 201-387-0080 or e-mail at shpahaw@aol.com for more details.

Eucharistic Ministers

Persons who wish to help to give Communion at Mass or bring it to those who are homebound are invited to join this ministry. It is a privilege. Call Sr. Joanne at 201-387-0080 or e-mail at shpahaw@aol.com for more details.

Ministry of Sick and Homebound

Parishioners who are in the hospital may be visited. After they return home, they are contacted by phone for a follow-up conversation. Volunteers are available to occasionally cook, shop, or drive locally.

Parishioners or their families need to contact us if they are in the hospital. The parish staff may not know, due to the Hippa law.

Phone Prayer Relay

People who request prayers, call Sr. Joanne at 201-387-0080. There is a phone prayer relay. No special prayer is said. First names are used only. We ask for more volunteers to be part of  the relay. Call Sr. Joanne at 201-387-0080 or e-mail at shpahaw@aol.com for more details.

Women’s Spirituality Group

This group meets on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:00. Women come together to discuss a chapter in a book they have chosen, share experiences, laughter, hopes, and dreams.
